When Tanjiro Kamado came back after selling charcoal in town, he had no idea about demons and demon slayers. Neither he knew about the amazing journey he would be embarking with his sister to find remedy to turn her back into human.
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba gives the insight of the journey travelled by Tanjiro Kamado and Nezuko Kamado to find the cure to transform Nezuko into human. During this journey Tanjiro and Nezuko faced many enemies including the twelve Kizuki (strongest demon under Muzan) and Muzan himself.
Coming April 9, the Season 3 of Demon Slayer will be launching titled “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba ‘Swordsmith Village Arc’”.

10 Sanemi Shinazugawa
Sanemi Shinazugawa is the Wind Hashira and elder brother of Genya Shinazugawa, a member of Demon Slayer Corps. He is among the Hashiras to participate in the fight against Muzan. He has great ability to perform in battles. He is also the second fastest Hashira when compared to other Hashiras. Sanemi is able to awaken his Demon Slayer mark during his battle with Kokushibo. During the fight with Kokushibo, even Kokushibo stated that the power level of Sanemi has reached its peak level.
Sanemi has his Wind breathing style with which he developed Nine techniques. His weapon of choice is a standard Nichirin sword which has a jagged pattern and has a shade of green.
Sanemi also has special ability blood that can cause demons to lose focus. He also has extreme muscle control that allows him to prevent fatal wounds to obstruct during an ongoing fight with demons. It was witnessed during the fight with Kokushibo, that even Kokushibo was surprised that Sanemi was able to prevent his organs from falling out even though Kokushibo made many cuts on the body of Sanemi.
9 Tengen Uzui
Tengen Uzui is the most charming Hashira in the Demon Slayer Corps. He uses his charm for persuasion whenever necessary in his undercover missions. Tengen is also the fastest among the Hashiras. He was the Sound Hashira who retires after the fight with Daki and Gyutaro during the Entertainment District Arc. During his fight with Gyutaro and Daki he ends up losing his left eye and left hand. He believed that he would not be able to provide much needed support to other Hashira during fight and hence, he chose to retire being Hashira. He also changed his attire after retirement to compensate for the loss of his eye and hand.
Tengen Uzui had mastered the Sound Breathing style and developed five forms of techniques to use in battles. Tengen also has many special abilities that help in dominate his opponents immensely. Due to enhanced hearing ability, Tengen has developed more advanced ability known as “Musical Score”. Using Musical Score, Tengen is able to read the possible attack of opponent in a form of musical chart, containing the rhythm of attack as well as blind spots of opponent. Tengen also developed echolocation ability that helps in identify the location of battles in case such battle occurs at underground location or in tunnels where no light is present.
Tengen is fond of using his Nichirin Cleavers which are customised to form a nunchuck sort of weapon. Tengen also expertise in use of anti-demon bombs that can cause havoc among demons.
8 Daki and Gyutaro
Gyutaro and Daki are the prime antagonist in the Entertainment District Arc of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. Both were the holder of the Upper Rank Six awarded by Muzan for their demonic abilities and killing of peoples. Before being turned into demons by Doma, Daki was a human child by the name of Ume living in Entertainment District. Being demons, both Daki and Gyutaro uses Blood Demon Art in their battles with Hashira and Demon Slayer Corps members.
Daki has ability of Obi Sashes creation from her flesh which comes out of back of Daki. These sashes can be retracted when not in use. Daki uses these sashes to make interweaving attacks on opponents. According to Daki, these sashes are soft as silk and sharp as Nichirin swords. Due to special ability of sashes, they helped Daki to block and repel the attacks of anti-demon bombs of Tengen. Due to their softness, Nichirin sword have hard time to cut the sashes furthermore reducing the effectiveness of slash attacks of sword by bending and weaving around the swords. Daki has created an eight-layered Obi Sashes that does not have any blind spot for opponent thus making defending the attack very much impossible. However, Daki is also a very good courtesan
Gyutaro is the elder brother of Daki who is also the holder of Upper Rank Six. Gyutaro is cruel and ruthless by nature. Gyutaro had fighting experience over a century along with his sister and had killed 15 Hashiras in past. Gyutaro is powerful enough to fight both Tanjiro and Tengen as well as overwhelm them. He is able to severely injure Tengen, Tanjiro as well as Zenitsu and Inosuke during his fight although he is killed in the fight. Even, Muzan acknowledged that only due to arrogance, Gyutaro lost the fight.
Gyutaro has immunity from decapitation by detaching his core from his body. Gyutaro is able to control his sister by detaching his core and transforming it into his right eye, which he attaches on forehead of his sister. Gyutaro also has ability of very fast regeneration which he shares with his sister by detaching his core. Furthermore, Gyutaro has poison generation which he uses to cover his blood sickles. It is shown that Gyutaro never runs out of his blood due to ability to regenerate blood very quickly. Thus, Gyutaro is able to use his Blood Demon Art quite effectively without caring about blood loss.
7 Kyojuro Rengoku
Kyojuro is one of the favourite characters of fans of Demon Slayer due to his character development. Kyojuro is fire Hashira among the Demon Slayer Corps. He managed to learn from guide book of Flame breathing after his father stopped teaching him Flame breathing style. Even Akaza, the Upper Rank Three demon praised the ability of Kyojuro and wanted him to join the ranks of demon. Being a Hashira, Rengoku had the ability to sense any demon nearby from their aura. Kyojuro had the ultimate will to fight with demons to save them from harming the innocent people which was due to indoctrination made during young age by his mother.
Kyojuro uses Nichirin sword which is combined with the Flame breathing style. Kyojuro also has knowledge of Total Concentration Breathing which he teaches to Tanjiro to stop his blood loss. Kyojuro had expertise in sis forms of Flame breathing techniques.
6 Giyu Tomioka
Giyu Tomioka is the water Hashira who uses Nichirin sword as his weapon of choice. He is the first Hashira to encounter Tanjiro and his sister Nezuko. Personality wise, Giyu is stoic in nature and does not present much expression except in case of very close peoples. Giyu undergone training under the guidance of previous Hashira Sakonji Urokodaki.
The fighting skill and power of Giyu were enough to impress Akaza, the Upper Rank Three demon to offer a chance to convert into demon. It is also shown that during the fight with Spider family, Giyu defeated easily Father Spider Demon and Rui, the Lower Rank Five demon who turned out to be overwhelming for Tanjiro and Inosuke respectively.
Giyu is also able to awaken his Demon Slayer mark to gain much more endurance and precision in attacks to outmatch the Upper Rank demons. Due to immense training, Giyu has able to create Eleven forms of techniques related to Water Breathing.
5 Akaza
Akaza is the Upper Rank Three demon among the Twelve Kizuki of Muzan He has a unique personality to praise the strong fighters and enjoy the fights. Akaza always want to know the name of opponents who he consider strong enough for the fight. During such fight, Giyu did not share his name with Akaza as he believed in not providing name to demons. Akaza believes that weak elements are always eliminated from nature.
Akaza has very strong physical nature as well as fighting spirit. It is shown during Infinity Castle Arc, that Akaza manages to subdue both Giyu and Tanjiro even when both were using their Demon Slayer marks. During the fight, Tanjiro had also access to Transparent World but it did not provided much help. Only after Tanjiro is able to access the Selfless State, Akaza is finally defeated. Akaza is very fast that he is able to match the speed of Giyu even after Giyu awakened his Demon Slayer mark.
Akaza is an expert in Hand-to-hand combat using Soryu Style in his fights. Akaza developed his Blood Demon Art in the form of Destructive Death which combines the Demon art with Soryu Style. It results in formation of shockwaves which can be created from any part of his body. Akaza is killed only when he intentionally stopped his regeneration ability as he lost the will to fight and accepted his defeat.
4 Tanjiro Kamado
Tanjiro is the main protagonist of the anime, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. Previously, he used to sell charcoal but after slaughter of his whole family and turning of his sister into a demon, he becomes a Demon Slayer. His main objective was to turn back Nezuko into a human and ultimately kill Muzan to prevent others from turning into demons.
Tanjiro undergoes training under Sakonji Urokodaki who had previously trained Giyu Tomioka. Tanjiro is very possessive of his demon turned sister, Nezuko. For her safety, Tanjiro keeps her enclosed in a box which he carries on his back. He is later on accompanied by Inosuke Hashibira and Zenitsu Agatsuma.
Tanjiro is a gentle person by nature as well as honest who is very direct. Tanjiro is also very straightforward and takes everyone’s word with seriousness. During interaction with Tengen, he even asked Tengen about the area where Tengen is worshipped as god. However, Tanjiro is easily annoyed by cowardice of Zenitsu and rudeness of Inosuke.
Tanjiro is expert at using Nachirin sword and uses Total Concentration Breathing during his fights. He later on remembered the a long forgotten style, Hinokami Kagura, which he learned from his father. He fights with almost every Upper Rank demons and faces with Muzan at end. He is able to awaken his Demon Slayer mark as well as enter the Transparent World. During the fight with Akaza, Tanjiro gains ability to enter the Selfless State too. Tanjiro is turned into demon by Muzan to use him against other Hashira but he managed to return to human form. Tanjiro is able to produce thirteen techniques based on his different breathing styles.
Tanjiro also possess headbutt ability that he uses stun his enemies as well as sometimes bleed them.
3 Kokushibo
Kokushibo is the twin brother of Yoriichi Tsugikuni, who was the strongest Demon Slayer ever to exist. During his human form, he was known as Michikatsu Tsugikuni and always had inferiority complex with his twin brother. After converting into Demon, he was assigned Upper Rank One by Muzan as he had absorbed the highest dose of Muzan’s blood.
Kokushibo shares similar Demon Slayer mark as Yoriichi has as well as Tanjiro.
Kokushibo has a very authoritative nature in his speech where he wants everyone to respect the hierarchy of Twelve Kizuki. He spars Akaza during his fight as he enjoys battling with Akaza. He is also delighted by opponents with talents. He even offered Gyomei to turn him into demon on knowing that Gyomei would die soon.
Kokushibo has gained the ability to access the Transparent World as well as gained mastery over Total Concentration Breathing. Kokushibo has ability to create sword out of his own flesh and also regenerate parts of blade if it gets destroyed. He can also change the form of blade as per his will. He also has ability to generate multiple blades at once to perform multiple attacks at once. His regeneration ability is much higher than Doma and Akaza but later becomes unstable resulting him to form into an ugly monster.
2 Gyomei Himejima
Gyomei Himejima is the stone Hashira of Demon Slayer Corps. According to Tanjiro and Inosuke, Gyomei is the strongest Hashira in Demon Slayer Corp. Gyomei is also mentor to Genya Shinazugawa. Gyomei appears similar to monk wearing large-beaded necklace as well as collared frame of happi that contains kanji for Shin Buddha chant. Gyomei is very pious by nature carrying his prayer beads all time. He is blind from childhood and does not have any pupil or iris.
However, Gyomei gained the ability to access the Transparent World. Being a stone Hashira, Gyomei had mastered Stone Breathing Technique. Gyomei uses spiked flail and axe as his choice of weapon. Gyomei uses Kusarigamajutsu fighting form which effectively repelled the attacks of Muzan. Weapon of Gyomei is such powerful that even Upper Rank One Kokushibo is not able to cut through the chain and had to resort to long range attacks.
Gyomei is able to match Moon Breathing style of demon using his own Stone Breathing technique.
Kokushibo also acknowledges the power of Gyomei and urges him to join the ranks of demon when Gyomei awakened his Demon Slayer mark. Gyomei can use repetitive action to maximize concentration which is similar to Total Concentration Breathing.
1 Muzan Kibutsuji
Muzan is the prime antagonist of the anime Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. It is revealed that Muzan was an experimental failure that started from curing the terminal illness. Muzan turned into demon during the Heian Era and since then he had only one goal to achieve immortality. From his conversation it is revealed that Muzan has only fear of Sunlight which can perish him. Muzan is from same bloodline as Ubuyashiki, the main leader of Demon Slayer Corps. Muzan found that he can either find Blue Spider Lily or create a demon which is able to cope with sunlight.
Muzan is very cruel as well as ruthless. Muzan is also cold-hearted and expect all his followers to never say loud his name for which he placed a curse on all demons that lead to their death if ever they speak out their name. Muzan is also coward and avoid involving in fights.
Muzan transform into a more monstrous form where his whole body is covered with sharp tooth and wide mouths. Simultaneously, Muzan can elongate his arms resulting in formation of whips consisting of mouths which can generate immense amount of suction. These suction results in anyone near to these whips to get sucked in and slashed by the tooth in those mouths.
Muzan has various Demon Blood abilities including Blood Memory Transfer which allows him to transfer his memory to any suitable body turning that person into a demon. He also has Demon manipulation ability using which he can take control of any demon only if he is able to extensively concentrate.
