Nintendo Switch was first launched in 2017 to compete with other hand held gaming devices such as PS Vita. However, it lacked its competitor in providing Bluetooth Audio support which was available in PS Vita. Even though, Switch has Bluetooth facility it never allowed the audio connection with the speaker or headphones. Switch only allowed the Bluetooth connection with its controller.
However, with the latest update available on both Nintendo Switch and Switch Lite will allow users to connect their Bluetooth Headphones with Switch. On September 15, the Twitter Handle of Nintendo America announced that latest firmware update (version 13.0.0) will allow users to connect Bluetooth audio devices with Nintendo Switch.
However, the tweet also informed about few restriction that would be applicable upon the connection. Few of them are as follows:
1. Only two controllers can be paired with Switch with a Bluetooth Audio device connected to it.
2. Only one Bluetooth Audio Device can be connected with Switch at a time. There can be maximum of 10 Bluetooth Devices saved for pairing purposes.
3. Bluetooth microphones for multiplayer gaming is totally disabled.
4. Moreover, Bluetooth will not work during local wireless network
However, Bluetooth connection will suffer from the omnipresent lag issue. There will be lag in audio latency when using with Nintendo Switch.
There might be issue with true wireless headbuds as latest headbuds needs to be connected with each other using Bluetooth and therefore there may be issues when connecting with Switch. The process of connecting with Switch is very simple. User can find a new menu item which will be titled Bluetooth Audio in the Setting's menu.
