Horror games in extraterrestrial planet has always been forte of Dead Space franchise. Fighting in alien planets against corpses to save humanity along side fighting mental instability, Isaac Clarke tries to keep Markers safe from the hands of Unitology cult members. After successful games including Dead Space 1 and Dead Space 2 and a not so successful Dead Space 3, the franchise went cold till now. Even the developing studio of Dead Space 3, Visceral Games was shut down in 2017.
The news was first broken by Jeff Grubb who works for GamesBeat. In his official podcast he claimed that EA Motive Studios will be working on a dormant EA project. EA Motive Studios has earlier worked on Star Wars: Squadrons. Developers also dropped hint during a streaming session about the game, saying "we're going to see it...if we are not dead first."
According to reports by Techradar, author of Dead Space, Antony Johnston informed through twitter that he has been working on a new game for almost two years. Later on described the game he is working on as "you play a character having a really bad time". These tweets were later deleted thus increasing suspicion that Dead Space or similar game might be in the making.
However, according to Gamatsu, "reimagined " game could be in development in place of a new sequel to the last Dead Space. Unless a good story is available to developers, it can be presumed that developers would work on a previous game and try to build it in another way. It could be by changing the main protagonist or by making small changes to the story.
Response of gamers to Dead Space 1 was totally deserved as most gamers were totally awestruck by horror of the game. The sound and lighting in game made it one of the best horror games to play. New game might enhance these features to provide a out of the world experience. Presence of new features such as ray tracing will add more visual effects as lights bouncing off walls will improve the integration of places that are properly lit and dark places. Visuals of outer space are also like to be more vibrant than before. The audio experience is also like to be improve than before as new Tempest 3D Audio Tech would make creeping noises as well as distant voices more thrilling than before.
A new sequel to Dead Space franchise would clearly be a new leash of life to the franchise as many hardcore fans are waiting for its arrival for a very long period. It is expected that game will support Xbox X|S series platforms along with PS5 consoles.
