Operation Tango: First Game with Perfect Bonding

Till now, all the games that call themselves as "Multiplayer" lacked the basic sense of co-ordination. Many games calling themselves as multiplayer did not need proper co-ordination between the players resulting in a sense of fake tag of multiplayer gaming.

For the first time a game has hold the meaning of Multiplayer gaming to its highest height by making almost all the functioning in the game dependent on each player thus bringing the true sense of multiplayer.

In first look at Operation Tango, we might not find it any different from the rest of the games that are available in the market. However, once we start playing the game we find that both players are dependent on each other for every task thus bringing forward the true meaning of multiplayer co-ordination.

Operation Tango is a game that requires two players to play in multiplayer mode. Player can choose either to play as an Agent, who is tasked with infiltration and extraction of information from the enemies, or as Hacker, who is located in a closed room and hacking into the system to gain information that are useful for the operation  to proceed. Every single step taken by one of the player requires the approval of the other player too. Even when the player need to pause the game, it requires that the other player to pause the game too.

The game is introduced by cutscenes that consists of animated characters. The anime scenes produces a very satisfying appeal to the whole game. The cutscenes provide enough information to the gamer about the missions. The anime is provided in comic strips form. The story revolves around an unknown group of people who have infiltrated into technological companies to obtain high graded technologies and use it for their own evil usage.

The game mainly involves solving different puzzles and solving them to move to the next stage of the game. In the game, Timing plays a pivotal role in this game. Many of the mission requires both players to complete their missions within stipulated time otherwise if any of the player is not able to complete the mission, the whole mission is failed.

During different missions it is accomplished that puzzles have no linear pattern of increasing difficulty as many of the puzzles are much tougher than rest of the puzzles. Many of the puzzles are much easier than other ones. Communications play important role between the agent and hacker all along the game.  One such mission requires the agent to stop the train in which agent is travelling by activating the emergency braking system. However, the braking system is locked which can open only by solving a puzzle that requires attention from both players. Moreover, the puzzle need to be solved within a limited time. The puzzles that appear in game keep changing whenever the game is restarted.

The game gives importance to both agent and hacker equally as many of the times, the important role is played by the agent whereas at other time the role is played by the hacker. When agent need to pass into an enemy territory, the passage is provided by the hacker.

Conclusion:

Overall, the game provide a new dimension to the multiplayer gaming, however, difficulty levels in the game being non linear proves to be very demoralizing as players can get easily depressed on losing puzzles due to extreme difficulties which can appear even during the beginning of the game. Players requires to work in very fast mode to achieve certain goals and clear puzzles. If the game could have given proper leveling of the difficulties it could have helped the players to be prepared for the difficulties to play the game.

Operation: Tango is available in Xbox One, Playstation 5, Xbox Series Six and PC.
