Today, Krafton announced that players can pre-register themselves for their new game, Battlegrounds Mobile India. The game was launched after the ban on PUBG game by Indian Government.
PUBG was banned in India after Chinese skirmish last year which led to banning of more than 119 Chinese apps including Alipay and Tiktok. However, as India being a top 3 market for esports and mobile games, Krafton wanted to be part of this market. Krafton met many officials to discuss how to remove ban from its mobile game.
Afterwards, Krafton decided to ban access to PUBG mobile from Indian servers and few months later announced that they were coming up with new version of PUBG especially developed for India.
Krafton announced that the new version of PUBG game for India will be known as "Battlegrounds Mobile India". It will have additional features that would cater to the demands that were presented by Indian government before Krafton to allow them to operate in Indian gaming space.
Following are the top changes that are witnessed in Battlegrounds Mobile India:
1. Battlegrounds Mobile India minus PUBG
Krafton has decided to keep the name of new game clear of PUBG and not to link two games at all. All the advertisements of Krafton fail to mention the name of their old game, PUBG. Even it is promoting its professional players to avoid using the name of their previous game.
It will help Krafton to avoid any anti-Chinese sentiment that is related to PUBG along with any other negative sentiment due to its addiction among youngsters.
2. More power to parents
Krafton has modified its Battlegrounds Mobile India to include consent process where children under age of 18 would need permission of their parents to play its game. The permission would be granted after the verification of OTP that would be send to mobile.
It will help Krafton to gain confidence of parents by allowing them to control the gaming schedule of their children.
3. More constraints on young players
Krafton has also decided to control the amount of time spend by children in its game by controlling the time that it would allow young players under 18 to play its game.
Thus, Krafton would be counter the issue of game addiction that prevail regarding PUBG.
4. Limit on Purchases
Krafton has decided to put a leash on the amount that could be used for purchases. Krafton has decided to allow Rs. 7000/- to be maximum limit for an individual player to use for purchases.
This will resolve the issue of spending of money in reckless manner by children and addicted players of PUBG.
