What new dual sense controllers bring with them?

Today Sony announced the launch of new dual sense controllers for its PlayStation 5 consoles. These controllers are special in their appearance. However, what they difference them have from controlling point of view, let us try to analyze it further.

Special Color

The new controllers will be available in two colors which are Cosmic Red and Midnight Black. Earlier, all the controllers that were sold by Sony had color code similar to the consoles. Therefore, any gamer opting for a white or black PlayStation 5 would receive controllers which are black and white in color. Thus, any controller could supplement any of the console without depending on the color of the console.

Cosmic Red color would contain a dual tone of red and black treatment whereas in case of Midnight Black its  a combination of black and dark blue color. Midnight black color is a more familiar color as previous consoles of Sony such as PS2, PS3 and PS4 had similar design.

The Midnight Black color is inspired from the night sky color of stars shining in the sky. Similarly, the inspiration for Cosmic Red was the shade of red color that appears in different cosmos across the space.

In the official blog of PlayStation, the lead designers of controllers Leo Cardoso and Satoshi Aoyagi have following comments:

"Our goal is to always find designs that will surprise and entice our fans, and these new colors are the result of an extensive selection process. We wanted the new controller colors to complement each other, as well as the original DualSense wireless controller and PS5 console, so we designed the colors around the theme of ‘galaxy’ as it felt like a natural progression from the original PS5 and accessories designs.”

- Leo Cardoso

“Both Midnight Black and Cosmic Red feature a subtle blue hue, that produces unique shades of red and black. A blue hue is also present in the original DualSense wireless controller colors, so all three colors complement each other nicely. The controller’s button colors and detailing has been tailored to complement the new colors as well.

We hope these new additions will bring further joy and excitement to our fans’ gaming experience.

- Satoshi Aayogi

The DualSense controllers comes with special features such as Haptic Feedback, Dynamic adaptive triggers, built-in microphone along with streaming button.

Release Date

Sony has announced the controllers could be pre ordered from June 11 onwards in US, whereas it can be pre-ordered from June 15 onwards in UK.

This new color is surely going to generate interest among the gamers as there has been no steps earlier taken in this direction. However,  there are third party vendors who provided matching plates for the console and controllers to provide coloring options to interested gamers.

Feel free to provide your opinions on this news.
